James has been teaching courses in Graphic Communications Technology and Management at UW-Stout since 1975. He has specialized in technical areas from press operations through postpress and distribution. He is also the lead instructor for the Graphic Communications Management program's flexography and gravure curriculum. James has a Master's Degree in Printing Education from the Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology and a Doctorate in Vocational Education with a professional certificate in Training and Development from the University of Minnesota. He has served as a member of the VICA National Education Team for Graphic Communications and is a member of the Foundation of the Flexographic Technical Association National Flexo in High School/College Program Advisory Council. He is a member of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation, Technical Association of the Graphic Arts, Gravure Association of America, Flexographic Technical Association, Printing Industry of Minnesota, Printing Industries of Wisconsin and advises one of the two student professional organizations in the Graphic Communications Management program. His students have won numerous scholarships and awards, including several "Best of Shows" in state and national project competitions.
